After beating Sarah Lawrence Tuesday night at the Pink Nation game 85-57, the Vaughn College Warriors are headed to the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) playoffs this Saturday February 15. The significance of the Pink Nation game was huge for both teams — a win for the Warriors meant they would make the playoffs; a loss against Vaughn College would eliminate Sarah Lawrence from playoff contention.

In the semi finals, the Warriors will battle it out against Berkeley for a chance to make it to the HVIAC championship round. The Warriors and Berkeley both finished with a 5-2 record in the HVIAC. Due to an early season 66-59 loss to Berkeley, Vaughn will be the number three seed in the HVIAC playoffs due to tiebreaker rules. Berkeley will be the number two seed in the playoffs setting up an epic rematch between the two teams. The game will start at 4 p.m. and will be played at the College of New Rochelle.

With Tuesday’s win, the Warriors completed an undefeated record at home, setting a perfect 8-0 at Elmcor Recreation Center for the first time in the history of Vaughn College’s men’s basketball team.

The Pink Nation game was a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Over $600 was raised through food and T- shirt sales. Over 300 fans and spectators packed Elmcor Recreation Center on February 11 to support the fight against breast cancer and to watch the Warriors fight for the playoff position in the HVIAC. Dj Zeke kept the crowd entertained playing old school and new school music during time outs and the Vaughn College dance team put on a half time performance for the crowd.
