Vaughn Receives Funding for NASA Grant to Help Improve National Airspace System
Vaughn College was one of 10 universities and colleges selected by NASA to receive funding to explore how the national airspace system can be more resilient when major storms, facility outages and other technical issues disrupt airline flight operations. This is part of a three-year, $6 million NASA University Leadership Initiative (ULI) to help reimagine the airline industry. Thanks to Vaughn College Board of Trustees Member Patty Clark, whose support got Vaughn involved in the initiative, the grant will sponsor one Vaughn student per year over the next three years to assist with the research. Clark’s organization, Project Gestalt, will also assist with the research. This project is one of three ULI projects funded by NASA through the University Innovation Project which utilizes real-world aviation research challenges to help transform current flight operations.
