Vaughn Hosts Fall Honors Ceremony
On Thursday, September 17, students, faculty, family and friends gathered in the main lobby to recognize the academic achievements of Vaughn’s undergraduate and graduate students. The fall honors ceremony allows each department to highlight student achievements during the spring 2015 semester.
To begin the ceremony Dr. Paul LaVergne, vice president of academic affairs welcomed the students and their families to the event. After his remarks, the presentation of academic and special awards began. Students receiving the faculty’s list award achieved a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.67; dean’s list award recipients achieved a grade point average of 3.68 and 3.84; and president’s list award recipients achieved a grade point average of 3.85 and 4.0.
This year a special service award was presented to aircraft operations major and veteran student Leudy Castro ’18 by Vaughn Veterans Organization President Jonathan Hernandez ’17 and Veterans Organization Vice President Gregori Bianchini ’16. Castro was awarded for his outstanding community service after pulling a civilian out of a burning car earlier this year.
“I am honored that the institution would allow me to honor a fellow veteran student at this event,” said Hernandez. “Vaughn students work hard to achieve their goals, and it means a lot to us that the College recognizes that work.”
