Vaughn Holds Academic Honors Ceremony
On Thursday, February 12 Vaughn College held its spring semester honors ceremony. Hundreds of students, faculty, friends and family filled the main lobby as the Vaughn community celebrated the achievements of our deserving students. Hundreds of students who earned a 3.5 – 4.0 grade point average in the fall of 2014 qualified for the Faculty List, the Dean’s List and the President’s List awards.
Dr. Paul LaVergne, vice president of academic affairs, gave the opening speech for the evening and began with a quote from Aristotle.
“Quality is not an act, it is a habit,” LaVergne said. “Continue to work on the good habits that you have formed, use them and this achievement to gain momentum towards all of your next goals; whether it’s graduation, a dream job, a business that you want to start or the opportunity to give back to your family, friends and community.”
Professor Thomas Broschart and and Dr. Raymond Addabbo presented the Faculty List Awards, followed by Dr. Hossein Rahemi chair of the engineering department and Dr. Pete Russo, chair of the aviation department who announced the Dean’s List Awards. The Final awards for the President’s List were presented by Vaughn President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo, assisted by Chair of the Management Department Dr. Maxine Lubner.
The next honors awards ceremony will be held in the fall of 2015, which will highlight student achievements for the spring semester.
