Vaughn Contributes to New Zealand Earthquake Recovery
In support of its online student population from New Zealand and others victimized by the Feb. 22 earthquake in Christchurch, Vaughn College has made a contribution to relief efforts through the International Airports Council (IAC) and American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). Vaughn officials also have offered to house New Zealanders eager to attend graduation ceremonies at the College in May.
“Many at the College asked if there is anything they can do to help,” said Ray Axmacher, director of the College’s distance learning program. Vaughn has a number of online students from Christchurch through United Technologies Corp.
The magnitude-6.3 earthquake hit the area around Christchurch International Airport particularly hard. Many airport employees lost their homes and possessions, prompting the IAC and AAAE to start the Airport Employee Relief Fund. Donations can be made here.
