Students Honored at Fall Awards Ceremony
On Wednesday, September 24, Vaughn College welcomed its top scholars, friends and family to the semiannual Academic Honors ceremony in the main lobby. More than 300 students were named to the spring 2013 Faculty’s List, Dean’s List or President’s List for attaining high grade point averages.
Senior Vice President Dr. Sharon DeVivo opened the ceremony by welcoming all in attendance, including guest speaker Mr. Anthony Grilli, who was on hand to recognize the 20th anniversary of the Joseph Grilli Memorial Scholarship. The award was instituted in recognition of his father, a well-loved instructor at Vaughn, depicted in a drawing as a gift by a former student.
Vaughn faculty and staff joined parents and family members to congratulate the achievers and share time together over refreshments. Faculty Senate President Mr. Thomas Broschart, Dean of Academic Affairs Dr. Paul LaVergne and Vaughn President Dr. John Fitzpatrick presented students with individual certificates to recognize their achievements. Students whose grade point averages were between 3.50 and 3.67 (Faculty’s List); 3.68 and 3.84 (Dean’s List); and 3.85 and 4.0 (President’s List) made up the group being honored.
Fitzpatrick congratulated all on their accomplishments, encouraged them to continue their outstanding efforts and noted, “We expect to see you in these seats again at the next ceremony.”
