Mary Anne Canon Shares Insight and Career Opportunities at Pratt & Whitney
The Vaughn College Management Department began their fall speaker series with Mary Anne Canon, vice president of commercial engine programs at Pratt & Whitney on Friday, September 28. Canon’s presentation covered the highlights of the 93-year history of the American aerospace manufacturer, what’s in store for the future and insight on ways to better prepare for a career in the industry. She also shared current business and career opportunities at Pratt & Whitney to current students attending the session.
“Vaughn students are in the right place to get a strong academic foundation and take it into the field to learn and grow,” said Canon. “Everyone’s path is different, just be open to change and don’t close doors.”
Canon was accompanied by Pratt & Whitney colleagues Alice Straight, communications and public relations specialist and John Koza, flight safety investigator who elaborated on investigative work and the publicity that went with the V2500 engine which currently powers planes in their fleet of 89,000 crafts. Students were also given complimentary Pratt & Whitney patches for their attendance.
