The management department’s fall speaker series began last week with James FitzGerald, assistant federal security director at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) who spoke to students on Thursday, October 13 about aviation security initiatives and the broad career opportunities offered by the TSA.

On Friday, October 14, the College welcomed the Honorable Chris Hart, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), John Allen, vice president and chief safety office at JetBlue and Christopher Sangiovanni, director of ground safety at JetBlue for a panel discussion on aviation safety and careers. The panel opened with introductory statements about their careers and experiences in the aviation industry, and included a question and answer session that allowed students to gain important information about the industry they will be working in once they graduate.

“These panel discussions allow our students to learn about the aviation industry directly from the people who work in it every day,” said Management Department Chair Dr. Maxine Lubner. “Experienced guests like Chairman Hart, Mr. Allen and Mr. Sangiovanni bring a wealth of knowledge to campus that I know our students will benefit from.”

The management department’s speaker series continues with Christine Negroni, veteran aviation journalist and author of the book “The Crash Detectives: Investigating the World’s Most Mysterious Air Disasters” on Tuesday, October 25.
