Vaughn College commenced the start of the fall 2024 semester for new and returning students with the annual welcome assembly on Thursday, September 5. The College welcomed more than 400 new students and the largest incoming Aviation Training Institute and maintenance class in its history. Vaughn President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo and Jared Martino, coordinator of student activities and engagement, delivered welcome addresses for the students in attendance.

Following her address, DeVivo introduced the Student Government Association President Alair Cunningham ’26 and Vice President Matthan Mbanefo ’25 to those in attendance. “For our new students the next four years are going to be an amazing time for you,” said Mbanefo. “Take advantage of all the clubs and activities the College has to offer to help you meet new friends, develop valuable skills like teamwork and leadership and help build your resume for potential employers.”

Following the welcome assembly, students were encouraged to get to know each other by mingling with their peers. The upcoming fall semester includes many fun activities for students to participate in such as the activity fair, where students can learn about the opportunities available for them on campus such as clubs and organizations, first Friday, a barbecue to celebrate the conclusion of welcome back week filled with games and activities, Latinx Heritage Month celebration, recreational sports and more.
