Branded Summer Camp Introduce Students’ to Engineering Offerings
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)-sponsored TryEngineering branded summer camps is back at Vaughn for the second year with an exciting two-week summer camp experience. High school students participate in pre-college courses consisting of classroom sessions and engineering workshops that teach fundamental skills in engineering design, robotics and computer engineering. This and other programs provided by the College aim to expose STEM concepts to younger students as they begin to consider career paths.
“The goal for the camps is to equip students with the tools for success when they go forward with their engineering studies,” said Antonio Del Valle, branded camp coordinator. “An academic and fun environment is a great combination for these early steps.”
Outside of the classroom, the students take part in an educational field trip to LaGuardia Airport where they met with chief engineers and toured the airfield. The closing ceremony will be held on Saturday, July August 3 where eager parents and families can see all of the projects the students have worked on.
