TryEngineering Branded Summer Camp Enhances Students’ Engineering Skills
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)-sponsored TryEngineering branded summer camps held on campus drew to a close after the completion of the two two-week camp sessions. High school students participated in pre-college courses consisting of classroom sessions and engineering workshops that taught fundamental skills in engineering design, robotics and computer engineering. This and other programs provided by the College aim to expose STEM concepts to younger students as they begin to consider career paths.
“The goal for the camps is to equip students with the tools for success when they go forward with their engineering studies,” said Antonio Del Valle, branded camp coordinator. “An academic and fun environment is a great combination for these early steps.”
Outside of the classroom, the students took part in an educational field trip to LaGuardia Airport where they met with chief engineers and toured the airfield. The closing ceremony was held on Saturday, July 28 with eager parents and families ready to see all the projects the students had worked on.
