Vaughn Welcomes Incoming Students with New Student Orientation
Vaughn College welcomed more than 160 attendees to its orientation sessions on Monday, August 13 and Thursday, August 16. New students and their families gathered on campus to meet academic advisers and be welcomed to the Vaughn College community. Current student leaders led both sessions and gave an introduction to college life to prepare incoming students for their first year.
“We wanted our new students to feel welcomed by a group of their peers, so this year all informational aspects of the orientation were led by student orientation leaders,” said Sarah Tsang, assistant director of student activities and engagement.
A series of informational skits were acted out by orientation leaders and covered how to navigate common first year problems ranging from contacting parents to time management. Vaughn prepares incoming students by presenting all resources available before the fall semester, making the transition as easy as possible.
During orientation, incoming freshmen finalized their fall class schedules, toured the campus and met with fellow classmates and faculty. Students also had the opportunity to experience living in the residence hall for the first orientation session.
