Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Vaughn Student Chapter Attends Holiday Dinner and Receive Recognition
The Society of Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) student chapter attended a December SHPE-NYC professional chapter meeting and holiday dinner where aircraft operations student Katharine Inamagua ’18 won second place and received a scholarship for her exemplary leadership skills. Inamagua, external vice president, received a $1,000 scholarship to aid towards her studies.
The SHPE-NYC professionals have raised more than $58,000 since the beginning of this scholarship.
“Being a part of groups on campus like the leadership academy definitely helped my leadership skills,” said Inamagua. “But for me it’s not so much about being a leader, it’s about preparing other students to succeed as well.”
SHPE Vaughn student chapter also hosted a sub-regional meeting on campus this month and invited other chapters in the region to review chapter involvement and share action plans to further the societies’ mission.
