Despite a rainy Saturday morning, more than 130 prospective students filled the William R. DeCota hangar for Vaughn College’s first in-person Open House of 2022. The event allows prospective students and their families to experience living and learning at Vaughn in a hands-on setting. Students who visited heard about Vaughn’s futureproof degree programs in engineering, technology, management and aviation.  

The day began with welcome remarks from Vaughn College President Sharon B. DeVivo and Associate Vice President of Enrollment Celso Alvarez. The attendees were introduced to the College’s various academic programs, the student’s on-campus experience and Vaughn’s Futureproof Guarantee.  

“Vaughn is so confident in the value of the education we provide that if an eligible student is not employed full-time in their field of study, or continuing their education one year after graduating, the College will reimburse up to one year of federal, direct undergraduate student loan payments,” said Alvarez. Students and their families were shown a video highlighting successful Vaughn graduates, given in-depth presentations on the degree offerings and met with faculty from the diverse academic and aviation training institute programs. The group toured the campus, residence hall and library in addition to visiting Vaughn’s flight and air traffic control simulator labs and engineering labs. Students also had the opportunity to watch the robotics club in action test out their robots for Vex Worlds, scheduled to be held next month in Dallas.  

Student representatives from professional organizations, clubs and athletic teams at the College were available to meet with attendees and discuss campus life from the current student’s perspective.  

After touring and learning more about Vaughn’s academics and offerings, prospective students and their families were invited to meet with admissions and financial aid representatives to help them to complete the application process and answer any remaining questions.
