Vaughn College graduates Marvin Blackman, Shahidul Islam and Joseph Kamel will address the American Society for Engineering Education’s annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada this week.

The trio of May 2011 mechatronics engineering graduates will present their paper titled “Counterbalance Transportation” at the conference, which brings together engineers and engineering educators from all over the world. The Vaughn presentation is one of 10 planned for the conference’s Design in Engineering Education Division (DEED).

The paper, written while the three were students at Vaughn, follows a model used by NASA’s Mars rover and demonstrates how heavy-load transportation is possible without major disruptions in transporter performance. Dr. Hossein Rahemi and Professor Manuel Jesus advised the students; Rahemi and Professor Khalid Mouaouya accompanied the trio to the conference.
