Warriors Improve League Record to 4-0
The Vaughn College Warriors rallied in the final three minutes to defeat St. Joseph’s College, 67-64, Thursday (Jan. 26) night in a Hudson Valley Men’s Athletic Conference game in Brooklyn.
The win improved Vaughn to 8-11 overall but 4-0 in the HVMAC. St. Joseph’s fell to 8-11 and 1-2 HVMAC. Then win ended Vaughn’s six-game losing streak to St. Joseph’s.
Ryan Burchette led four Warriors in double-figures with 18 points, connecting on 7 of 13 field-goal attempts. Jihad Ceasar, the current HVMAC Player of the Week, scored 14 points with a team-high 12 rebounds and Jason Ramos added 10 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and three assists.
St. Joseph’s led by as many as 11 points before carrying a 36-30 lead into halftime. But with St. Joseph’s leading, 62-59, late in the game, the Warriors went on a 7-0 run for a 66-62 lead with 16 seconds remaining.
Vaughn sits alone atop the HVMAC standings and will play Mount St. Vincent College on Wednesday (Feb. 1).
