Vaughn Welcomes Employers to its Fall Career Fair
Hundreds of Vaughn students and over 40 employers were in the hangar on Thursday, September 26 for the College’s fall career fair. The event provided a great opportunity for Vaughn students to talk to potential employers about internship and career opportunities, and learn what to expect during their job search after graduation.
Industry representatives from airports, law enforcement, the military and transportation authorities were among the guests in attendance at the fair.
“We come to these events to talk to students about what they’ll need to start their career when they graduate,” said Albert Schnur, of the Federal Aviation Administration. “We also provide resources for them to submit their resumes to the FAA and other agencies.”
Stephen Ferguson, assistant manager at Westchester County Airport, cited Vaughn’s students as a reason for his continued return to the career fair.
“Vaughn students have a passion for aviation that really shows,” he said. “They have a true hunger for knowledge, and a great work ethic; and we are proud to hire students from our own back yard.”
The fair included some newcomers, including Huan DeRiggs and Dominique Vincent of NYC Business Solutions, a division of the New York City Department of Small Business Services.
“Vaughn students are proving to me that they’re ready to join the workforce,” said DeRiggs. “They’re well-prepared, they’re knowledgable and they make a good impression. This is my first visit to Vaughn, and I’m looking forward to my next one.”
