Next Gen STEM Program Hosted at Vaughn
Vaughn hosted a Next Generation Education science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) event for the Girl Scouts of Greater New York Nassau and Suffolk Counties to expose them to STEM.
More than 100 girls attended the event, learned about about Vaughn’s offerings and heard from guest speaker and alum Jade Kukula ’07, senior systems engineer at Lockheed Martin.
Eight workshops were conducted and facilitated by Vaughn College’s faculty, staff, students and alumni. Student volunteers included representatives from the Society of Women Engineers, Women in Aviation, the robotics club and students studying aircraft operations and air traffic control. The topics covered during the day ranged from robotics and avionics technology, to learning about flight op erations and the forces behind flying an aircraft.
