Class of 2021 Honors Convocation Ceremony Celebrates Student Achievement
Vaughn College recognized the achievements of the class of 2021 at the annual Honors Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday, May 12. The virtual ceremony began with opening remarks from Dr. Paul Lavergne, vice president of academic affairs, and greetings from President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo. Having been one of the first classes to experience the remote transition, the students were commended for exhibiting resilience and grit in adjusting to the tele-educational setting.
Management Major Jenelle Samuel ’21 is the recipient of the Vaughn College Bessie Coleman Award. This award is presented to the student with the highest cumulative grade point average who demonstrates the professional and civic values that exemplify the mission of the College.
The event continued with faculty toasts and distribution of departmental awards to students who excelled in engineering, technology, management, and aviation with a grade point average of 3.50 or above, or those who showed exceptional leadership and athletic abilities.
The ceremony concluded with a presentation of the students who received academic high honors for cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude status.
The 2021 Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 15 at 1 p.m.
