Assistant Director, Career Services

Job Description:

Provide vision, and oversee the design, implementation, and assessment of Career Services development programs and respond to the changing needs of students and alumni.  Develop and administer special outreach programs to inform faculty, students and alumni of the need for long-term career planning and career development, regardless of academic discipline.  Oversee, plan and administer career development programs, workshops and seminars to guide students from their selection of an academic major through the job-search or application to graduate or professional schools.

 

Responsibilities:

·      Develop, promote and implement career planning and career development programs for students and alumni.

·      Assists in all phases of the addition of web based service delivery.

·      Interview, hire, schedule and supervise all eligible student workers referred by Financial Aid.

·      Regularly assess and evaluate program outcomes and create assessment surveys.

·      Collect and document records of student participation in programs.

·      Prepare and present statistical reports on employment outcomes.

·      Provide individual/group career advisement/counseling sessions for undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni.

·      Conduct career planning and job search workshops -- resume, interview skills, mock interviews and job search strategies.

·      Develop and coordinate job fairs, career awareness programs, employer panels, etc.

·      Serves as liaison to student groups, clubs, and organizations. Coordinates with the Student Activities office.

·      Develop and maintain relationships with employers and other industry professionals.

·      Identify and stay abreast of current employment trends.

·      Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.

·      Some evening and weekend work as required.

Qualifications:

Education:

·      Master's degree preferred; a Bachelor’s degree is required (emphasis in career services, student affairs, counseling, human resource management or related field).

Experience:

·      Interest and commitment to program development and implementation.

·      Interest, enthusiasm and experience working with a diverse group of students and alumni preferred.

·      Strong oral and written communication skills, counseling and presentation skills to small and large groups.

·      Proficient with MS Office and the Internet.

·      Able to contribute to the overall planning of the Career Services office.

·      Effective interpersonal skills, high energy level.

·      Able to work with faculty, administrators and the employment community.

·      Some supervisory experience preferred.

Financial Aid Counselor

Vaughn College located in Flushing New York, is seeking a full time financial aid counselor. The individual in this position will provide current and prospective students with information regarding available aid and financing options to our undergraduate and graduate population. He or she will review and evaluate financial aid applications, process loans and determine aid packages in accordance with federal, state and institutional policies. This counselor will participate in special events; such as, Open House and Orientation and provide specific program and project support as needed, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Financial Aid. Rotating evening and weekends required.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

 Summary

Director of Public Affairs is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the college’s marketing, community relations and public affairs initiatives

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

·      Develops and edits all college publications including, but not limited to, college catalog, alumni magazine, student handbook, college newsletters, feature articles, and website content.

·      Prepares college press releases, journal ads, help-wanted ads and promotional copy.

·      Develops, refines and implements a comprehensive marketing program for the college.

·      Oversee the ordering and editing of all college stationary and business cards.

·      Ensures that brand messaging is consistent across the college.

·      Develops a comprehensive news media communications program that focuses on access and accuracy and maintains personal contact with news media professionals through visits, phone calls and correspondence.

·      Works with college faculty, staff and students to develop and implement promotion and publicity programs for college events and activities

·      Oversee the preparation and the production of college flyers, brochures and posters.

·      Evaluates the news worthiness of college events and activities and ensures effective promotion of same.

·      Directs the preparation, review and production of the college's print and electronic publications, news releases and other internal and external communications.

·      Develops and assesses internal communication processes and initiates appropriate changes as needed.

·      Ensure all Web content development and social media tools and technologies are up to date.

·      Monitors and reviews projects to ensure that all deadlines are met and that the end product meets quality standards.

·      Prepares budget requests, monitors and approves expenses and initiates budget changes.

Engineering and Engineering Technology Department Faculty Position

International Adjunct Teaching Positions

Avionics: Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach three-week sessions at Vaughn’s additional location in Hyderabad, India. The three-week instruction sessions will be offered from 2009 through 2010. The faculty will be responsible to teach 20 hours of lecture and 45 lab hours during the three weeks, which will be followed by 10 hours of instruction online. Applicants must have a graduate degree in electronics/ avionics, doctoral degree preferred. Related industrial experience is required. Prior teaching experience including online courses is a plus.
